The Kidz Korner is for our
younger performers of Magic Moments, ages 5-12.
My name is Dori Gharrity. I am your Kidz Korner Coordinator and Kim Garcia has agreed to be our Assistant or Co-Coordinator of the Kidz Korner. She was a
huge help to all of us in the Kidz Korner last year and has agreed to come back!
We both serve on your Magic
Moments Board of Directors and we both have kids in the show. So we have a
vested interest in another successful year with Magic Moments, especially the
kids’ portion of the production!
We hope to act as your central
clearing house for information for the parents and liaisons to the board. This
position continues to evolve and we welcome helpful suggestions.

Notes
Hotline
Please call the Magic Moments’ Hotline before rehearsals to check for
schedule changes and updates, if there is inclement weather, etc. The hotline is
updated daily.
The Magic Moments Hotline is: 303-607-7555
Info and updates and will also be posted on the Web site.
Drop
off/Pick Up
Your
child’s/children’s safety is our utmost concern. Therefore, we will require
and implement the following drop off/pick up procedure:
-
Children will need to be dropped
off and signed in by a parent or a designated, appropriate family member
upstairs in the kids’ rehearsal room.
-
Children will need to be signed
out and picked up at 3:15 at kids’ rehearsal room. Please be on time for pick
up.
Rehearsal Time
Saturdays, 1:00 – 3:15 p.m.
Please have your child signed in
and ready to go in the rehearsal room, before 1:00 p.m. Rehearsals begin
at 1:00 p.m.
Closed Rehearsals
Rehearsals are closed to parents, family,
friends, etc. Only children in the production and staff will be permitted in the
rehearsal room.
Breaks/Snacks
There will be a 15 minute break during
each rehearsal. You may choose to send a snack and a bottle of water with your
child for the break. Your child is responsible for their snack and water bottle
and belongings.
Footwear
Please have your child wear comfortable
shoes or dance shoes for rehearsals. If it is snowy or rainy and they wear boots
to rehearsal, or if they are coming from a sports activity, please send
appropriate shoes for your child to wear during rehearsals.
Behavior
We anticipate a very large group of
children this year, the largest group ever for Magic Moments. Behavior
expectations will be set and enforced at the discrimination of the director and
choreographer. Children will need to be able to sit quietly, listen and
follow directions, keep their hands to themselves, and be attentive. They will
be learning several songs and dances.
It will take every minute of
every rehearsal to effectively accomplish this task. Magic Moments is a
performing arts group, not a disciplinary unit. We really want to keep it fun - and
safe - for everyone!
Absences
Please call the hotline if your child will be late, absent or has an emergency.
A Stage Manager will get back to you. The staff needs to be notified in advance
for excused absences. Unexcused absences are discouraged and may result in being
excused from the production. Hotline:

Costumes
Any and all questions regarding costumes
should be directed to the costume coordinators, Judy Wyatt at jwyatt6847@comcast.net,
303-979-1663, and Robin Chew at shesmilin@comcast.net,
303-973-7322.
Dress rehearsals
Additional information will follow
regarding dress rehearsals. Please plan on a full evening, possibly 6:30 until
10:30 p.m. on dress rehearsal nights. We
know that is a late night for many of your children. You may wish to make plans
accordingly with your child’s school.
Volunteers
Yes, we need parent volunteers!
Please contact either of us if you are interested in helping out.
Thoughts and ideas
Please share them with us! Your thoughts
on how your child should act, move, dance, speak, etc., on stage, are highly discouraged by your creative and production staff. Please let the
professionals coach your children. Magic Moments has the best of the best
working with your children. Trust them, please.
Practice, practice, practice
Reminding your children to rehearse their
music, lyrics and dances is highly encouraged!
Lyrics will be sent home with your child after rehearsals. Children are expected
to know their lyrics and bring the music with them to rehearsals.
Sweet Nothings
Sweet Nothings send
a note or message to cast members that is printed
and inserted in the Magic Moments production program as a memento to
your cast member. All proceeds from Sweet Nothings go to support the Magic Moments Theatre Arts Scholarship
Please contact me if you have
additional questions. Kidz Korner coordinators will plan to be at every rehearsal, so
you can always reach us there (after the kids are signed in) or call or write
at:
